Living and practising in Meanjin/Brisbane, Zoe Hawker imbues a technicolour fluorescence into site specific installations, paintings and videos. Hawkerβs practice is concerned with mining infantilisations of cowboy culture through the endearing retinal pastiches of the βhorse girlβ. Her practice aims to relay the mundane and transformative experiences, realisations, dreams, desires, and delusions of a self-proclaimed horse girl. Hawker grew up in north-western New South Wales on Gamilaraay/ Gamilaroi/ Kamilaroi country.
Her first pony was called Banjo.
