Living and practising in Meanjin/Brisbane, Zoe Hawker imbues a technicolour fluorescence into site specific installations, paintings and videos.  Hawker’s practice is concerned with mining infantilisations of cowboy culture through the endearing retinal pastiches of the β€˜horse girl’.  Her practice aims to relay the mundane and transformative experiences, realisations, dreams, desires, and delusions of a self-proclaimed horse girl.  Hawker grew up in north-western New South Wales on Gamilaraay/ Gamilaroi/ Kamilaroi country.
Her first pony was called Banjo.
